Question:

Hi im 34 male who keeps getting swollen lymph glands flare up with tiredness and achy muscles, what could it be please diagnose me

Answer:

I am presuming that the swollen lymph glands you are referring to are the ones in your neck. When you have swollen lymph nodes and muscle aches, often a viral illness is the cause, especially if there are also cold symptoms - headache, runny nose or congestion, cough, sore throat. If you are having those types of symptoms, it could simply be that you are getting recurrent viral infections of that variety. Things that might predispose someone to that would be sinus issues, or allergies (allergic rhinitis). If those things are not present, it might be a good idea to get some blood work to assess the immune system. Deficiencies in different cells or components of the immune system could lead to repeat infections. Not to say this is the case for you, but if someone has risk factors for HIV (IV drug use, unprotected sex), HIV can potentially cause these symptoms, and would also make one prone to infection.

Outside of recurrent infections and immune deficiencies, some autoimmune disorders may cause such symptoms. A blood test called an ANA can screen for this.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.
