Question:

Hi, I've been feeling unwell for a year now. I'm 26 years old, 5'8" and 175lbs. I've been suffering chronic fatigue, headaches, neck pain, tingling sensations of my right eye brow, generally unwell, shakes, weakness, poor concentration, brain fog and feeling feverish. I was under a little stress when I got it but haven't since and my symptoms have gotten worse. I've had blood tests and MRI of brain and cervical which came back normal. I've had 2 surgeries. First one in 2001 for appendicitis and in 2007 I had a hard silicone implant put in where the sternum head of my left pectoralis major should be because I was born with polands syndrome.

Answer:

Mr. McMahon,

I apologize for the delayed response. Your case is a difficult one and something that I have given much thought. The symptoms don't fit any of my "outside the box" thoughts. My first thought was a problem in the head or neck that would be triggering the symptoms. However, your MRI was clear. I later considered a problem with the implant, but that would have surfaced long before now. So, my other concerns now are your diet and alcohol use. Are you eating a healthy balanced diet? Are you having an alcoholic drink daily?

Question:

Yes my diet has been normal, eating plenty of fruit and veg with the odd day of bad food. I never drink alcohol daily, I usually drink alacohol about 8-10 in a year. About two weeks before i became really ill and fatigued with flu like symptoms I had just past 2 physical tests for a full position with my fire dept. I was successful in my application and will be starting in the next few months but my condition isn't helping

Answer:

Mr. McMahon,

Unfortunately, this is one of those rare occurrences where this forum will not provide the opportunity to give you the full exam this condition requires. I think you need a good physician that can out their hand on you and spend time exploring your history and observing you and your symptoms. It seems to me that there is some kind of chronic condition, or illness that has not been properly addressed based on the symptoms, but again, it is not possible for me to make a final diagnosis through this medium in this particular case. I apologize for taking so long to realize this. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. Dr. B
